I also examined when and where energy was consumed in the premises, and the age and condition of the machinery. The data was entered into an energy use program, where I can run simulations for different actions to see what effect each one would have on total consumption. I constantly compared the simulations to actual use to assure quality and get as close to the real-life situation as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eight actions<br \/>\n<\/strong>\u201cFor Bendiro, it was very important to get an overall picture ahead of their planned investments and refurbishments. Meticulous analysis is paramount to ensure the best possible end result.&nbsp; The analysis phase resulted in a list of eight suggested actions. This used to be done manually, so the heat could only be directed for a small radius around each machine. In the new system it\u2019s automatic. Sensors detect when the air source heat pumps need to be switched on and spread heat throughout the factory. We now have heating and ventilation systems that talk to each other rather than existing in a vacuum. With this new solution, the air source heat pumps can also be used as cooling units in the summer, which ensures a level climate in the factory all year round.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Light important to health and safety<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve also replaced all the existing lighting with LED in production, which has brightened things up also in the old part of the factory. Together, all of these measures make Bendiro a unique, ultra-modern plant. We now all work in a nice, fresh working environment, which has all kinds of benefits.
