Sports have always been a major part of Faeez’s life, and he has played volleyball since he was young. He has also worked as a physical education teacher, and when the family moved to Falkenberg, volleyball brought him into contact with Bendiro – opening the door to an entirely new career.
– In the beginning, I did a bit of everything, from grinding to cleaning. But quite soon, I also had the opportunity to try operating Roll Forming Line 14, where we were producing some of our most challenging profiles at the time. It was a big challenge, but I immediately knew that I wanted to learn more and eventually be able to set up profiles myself.
After about a year and a half, Faeez left Bendiro to work as a volleyball coach in Lund. When the pandemic changed the circumstances, he returned to Bendiro in 2021.
This time, he started as a machine operator. Two years later, in 2023, he took the next step and began working with machine setups.
– I’ve learned an incredible amount here. Jörgen Hjertman has played an important role in my development, and we work very well together. Tobias has also been like a mentor to me. There is so much knowledge at Bendiro and so many people who are happy to share it.
Faeez describes himself as curious, persistent and solution-oriented – qualities that have served him well as he has developed his skills in roll forming.
– As an athlete, I’m used to fighting and persevering. I love challenges, and we face them all day long here. My greatest strength is probably that I don’t give up. If something doesn’t work, I try again and work out why until I find a solution.
That mindset has also shaped his ambitions at Bendiro.
– During a performance review a few years ago, I was asked where I saw myself in three years. I replied, perhaps a little boldly, that I wanted to be the best on the shop floor. I always want to learn more and keep improving.
Today, Faeez works as a Production Technician and, just like his colleague Agim Osmani, whom we featured in our previous “Grow with Bendiro” article, he plays an important role in day-to-day production. Faeez has developed a clearer focus on advanced welding* and increasingly works with technically demanding and complex profiles.
– Complex profiles are one of Bendiro’s great strengths. No two profiles are the same, which makes the job very interesting. Our customers place great trust in us, and that makes our expertise incredibly important.
His role includes supporting machine operators when problems arise and ensuring that the process remains stable. Production runs continuously, and sometimes quick decisions and adjustments are required.
– We should only send high-quality products to our customers. Quality is incredibly important. As Production Technicians, we play an important role in ensuring that the profile maintains the same high quality, regardless of the volumes we produce.
Faeez also draws on his experience from sports on the factory floor. Staying calm, seeing the bigger picture and making quick decisions are just as important when a production line needs adjusting as they are on the volleyball court.
– I’m calm and patient. Just like on the volleyball court, you need to be able to make quick decisions while keeping an eye on the bigger picture.
Working closely with the machine operators is an important part of his role.
– You need to get to know the people you work with and maintain a good dialogue. It’s very much about listening to and respecting each other. We work together to create a stable process.
Faeez also highlights his collaboration with Agim and his other colleagues as an important part of his working day.
– We have a great atmosphere and work very well together. Agim and I complement each other well. I’m a little more focused on welding, but we help each other and solve problems together.
Volleyball is still a major part of Faeez’s life. Today, among other things, he coaches Falkenberg’s women’s volleyball team, which plays in Division 1, and is also a referee in Sweden’s top volleyball league. In his spare time, he also spends a lot of time with his family and his two children.
His background as a physical education teacher and coach fits well with another side of him that has become increasingly important at Bendiro – his desire to share his own knowledge.
– I enjoy being able to teach and inspire others. There are opportunities to develop here if you want to and are willing to show initiative.
And for anyone considering joining Bendiro, Faeez has a clear message:
– It’s an incredibly interesting profession. It’s difficult at first, but very stimulating. There is so much knowledge here and so many people to learn from.
