Grow with Bendiro

Agim Osmani  – Production Technician
When Agim Osmani joined Bendiro in 2015, he had no technical training and no real plans for a future in roll forming. Today, he works as a Production Technician specialising in machine setup, with responsibility for several machines and an important role in daily production. His journey has above all been driven by a willingness to learn, develop and take on new challenges.

Family made Agim change direction

Before joining Bendiro, Agim spent ten years building store interiors for Axfood Willys. The job involved a lot of travelling, and when he had children, he began thinking about finding a job that would give him more time at home.

In 2015, through a staffing agency, he was asked if he would like to start working as a machine operator at Bendiro.

“I started as a machine operator and did that for about two years. Then I spent some time in the paint shop before returning to the machines. After a while, I felt that I wanted to move forward and develop further.”

The Production Manager at the time, Jarmo, saw his potential and asked if Agim wanted to start working with machine setup.

“I had no technical training when I started. I’ve learned a great deal of what I know here, not least from my colleagues. There is a lot of knowledge and experience among the people who work at Bendiro.”

A key role in the roll forming process

As a Production Technician specialising in machine setup, Agim makes sure that the roll forming line is correctly set up and adjusted for the profile to be produced. It involves much more than simply changing over a machine. Tools and roll stands need to be adjusted, the process tested and fine-tuned, and the finished profile must meet the required dimensions, tolerances and quality standards.

The more complex the profile, the greater the demands on experience and an understanding of how the material behaves throughout the different forming stages.

“It needs to be done as quickly and efficiently as possible, but there can be no mistakes. It has to be right from the start.”

For Agim, one of the most enjoyable parts of the job is when a customer comes to Bendiro with a new and complex profile that needs to be transformed from a drawing into reality.

“It’s fascinating to see a flat strip enter one end of the line and come out as a finished profile at the other. A profile passes through around 30 different forming stages, and my job is to make sure everything is right throughout the entire process, including integrated operations such as laser welding and punching.”

No two days are the same

Today, Agim is responsible for two to three machines that can be running simultaneously. He also has a leading role in production together with the team leaders and Production Manager Niklas.

His working day starts with reviewing the production schedule to see what is planned for the different machines. He also checks the 24-hour report to see whether there have been any deviations or problems in production. At 7:30, the team gets together to review the day’s production and decide what needs to be prioritised.

“You quickly see where you’re needed most and start there. There are always lots of things going on, and no two days are the same. Time goes incredibly fast. Sometimes it feels as if I’ve barely arrived at work before it’s time to go home again.”

Agim describes himself as calm and communicative, two qualities that are particularly valuable when the pace is high and many things need to work at the same time. Order and structure are also important.

“There’s a lot happening at the same time in a factory, so you need to stay calm and keep things organised. Our customers should feel confident that everything is well organised and under control.”

Teamwork is becoming increasingly important

Outside work, Agim spends a lot of time with his family and his children, who play football. He has also played football himself and sees a connection between teamwork in sport and at work.

“I used to be more of an individual player, but over the years I’ve come to understand more and more how important it is to work together and what we can achieve as a team.”

His colleagues are one of the things Agim appreciates most about Bendiro. He also highlights the working hours, the proximity to home and the working environment at the Bendiro Profile Center.

“We have really great colleagues and everyone has the right attitude. It’s also fantastic to work in such bright, modern facilities with new machines.”

The development journey continues

More than ten years have passed since Agim took his first steps at Bendiro as a machine operator, but he feels that his development is far from complete.

“I want to continue developing and become even better at what I do. That’s something I appreciate about Bendiro – my ambitions are encouraged and I’m given the opportunity to keep learning.”

And for anyone considering a career at Bendiro, he has a clear message:

“You don’t need to know everything from the start. I had no technical training when I came here and have learned along the way. If you want to develop, there are plenty of opportunities here.”
